To help us bring these artists and their works to you we would like to introduce you to our latest member of our Team, our new Art Editor Fiona Miller. Below is an introduction by Fiona which we hope you enjoy this introduction and all the new artists that she will bring you. We are looking forward to seeing our new Art Corner develop and wish Fiona Good Luck with the Feature.
Hello
My name is Fiona Miller and I have lived in Eastbourne for almost five years now. On arrival, I very quickly involved myself in the art, music and creative groups here and around East Sussex. This vibrant community has been inspirational and exciting to observe and be part of.
As an artist and creative person myself, I have always been interested in and empathic to, the arts in all its diverse medium and genres. Visiting the wealth of galleries and exhibition space in Eastbourne, Lewes, St Leonards and Hastings to name but a few, has been a pleasure to behold. The South East Open Studios, which run throughout East Sussex and beyond, with their eclectic mix of creatives, has certainly been food for my soul.
My intention has always been to promote local creatives, and to this endeavour I introduced the readers of the Eastbourne Voice, as their Arts Editor, to new and innovative artist talent in Eastbourne and the surrounding areas.
In 2021 my new venture Phoenix_Creative_Space has now launched and is an inspirational on-line space for the creative community in this region and beyond. All artist, musicians and creative souls are welcome, together with anyone who connects with the beauty of this World and themselves.
I am starting my arts collaboration with Carole Smith and Lesley Jones of Cala Conversations, by showcasing Lucy Dean, a local established and popular Eastbourne artist. Lucy’s touching and poignant article, together with her beautiful artwork will touch the heart and cords of many of you, I’m sure.
I hope you enjoy this new venue and the ride!
Fiona Miller, Art Editor
